Sophie Barthelemy
Deputy General Manager, Global Strategy for Indirect Purchasing
Renault-Nissan
Sophie is the Deputy General Manager, responsible for the global strategy of indirect purchasing at Renault-Nissan, overseeing a spend of € 6B. She analyses the strategies, tactics and results of the respective Renault and Nissan Purchasing teams to identify and innovate cost saving synergies to achieve the corporate mid-term goals for convergence in the Alliance. Sophie ensures that the identified synergies optimally position the converged purchasing organization for long term performance improvement, competitiveness and innovation. She has a background in both media agency and line marketing experience, having being Head of Advertising and Media for Renault EMEA before moving into procurement.
In Global Procurement, Sophie led the first ever Alliance media pitch (in which Renault’s and Nissan’s EMEA media budgets were combined to total 800 M€ and were awarded to a single agency), and implemented and executed this single contract across 35 countries (80 M€ savings in year 1). In this role, Sophie also defined and implemented outsourcing and de-localization solutions to achieve more efficient and strategic resource management and took advantage of hidden business opportunities.
